Dedicated to discovering and encouraging a serious love of dance in students of all ages, our full year session will culminate
in a Year-End Performance on Saturday, May 2 at the Orion Performing Arts Center in Topsham!

Priority registration for currently enrolled students opens July 21.
General registration for new students opens July 28.

Important Session Dates:
September 8: first day of classes
October 13: No Monday classes
November 24: Monday 10/13 make up class
November 25 - 30: no regular classes (Thanksgiving break)
December 15 - December 20: class make up week as needed
December 21 - January 4 (Winter break)
January 5: classes resume
February 16 - February 21: no classes (school break)
April 20 - April 25: no classes (school break)
April 27 - May 2: SHOW WEEK
April 27: 28, 29: no regular classes. all classes have special In-studio rehearsals, schedule TBD
April 30, May 1: Stage rehearsals, Orion Performing Arts Center, schedule TBD
May 2: Year End Performance, 2:00 pm, Orion Performing Arts Center
May 4 - 9: class make up week as needed

Preschool Classes

Preballet (age 3.5 - 5)
Saturday 9:30 – 10:00 am

In this playful 30-minute class, young dancers are introduced to the magical world of ballet through creative movement, music, and simple exercises. Students will explore basic ballet positions, coordination, and rhythm in a fun and supportive environment. Through imaginative games and activities, they build balance, flexibility, and confidence, all while having a great time learning the fundamentals of dance! This class is designed as an independent learning experience for the dancer without their grown-up.

Ballet

With a 400+ year history, ballet is rich in style and tradition. Our ballet classes focus on developmentally appropriate technique for each age level, building a solid physical foundation while developing personal style and artistry.

Tap

Tappers make music with their feet! Our tap program builds a dancer’s tap vocabulary, rhythmic ability, and improvisational skills, drawing from the rich history of tap dance in America, and giving dancers a chance to flex their creative muscles.

Modern

What is modern dance? Arising around the beginning of the 20th century, modern dance is a “young” art form that nevertheless has many variations. At The Moving Company, our modern dancers study and incorporate the fundamental elements of dance (body, energy, space and time) into their modern technique, learning from both current and historical modern dance styles, as well as learning improvisational and choreographic skills.

What is Repertory? This class offers dancers an opportunity to learn, rehearse and perform additional choreography as our Moving Company Dance Troupe - dancers will perform throughout the year and at the Year-End Performance. Dancers must also be enrolled in Modern 3, and at least 1 year of dance experience is strongly recommended. Performance opportunity details will be shared as they arise.
