Dedicated to discovering and encouraging a serious love of dance in students of all ages, our full year session will culminate
in a Year-End Performance on Saturday, May 4 at the Orion Performing Arts Center in Topsham!

Important Session Dates:
September 11: classes begin
October 31: no class (Halloween); make up date is Monday, 11/20
November 21 - 26: no classes (Thanksgiving break)
December 11 - December 16: class make up week as needed
December 10 - January 7 (Winter break)
January 8: classes resume
February 19 - February 25: no classes (school break)
April 15 - April 21: no classes (school break)
April 29 - May 4: SHOW WEEK, in-studio rehearsal schedule TBD
April 30: Level 2 and 3 stage rehearsal, schedule TBD, Orion Performing Arts Center
May 3: Preballet, Level 1 & 2 stage rehearsals, schedule TBD, Orion Performing Arts Center
May 4: Year End Performance, 2:00 pm, Orion Performing Arts Center
May 6 - 11: class make up week as needed

NOTE: We are a small studio with limited capacity, and several classes have filled during our Priority Registration period.

Preballet (age 3 & 4)

Preballet is a 30-minute class to introduce preschoolers to the dance class environment, focusing the fundamental elements of dance, pre-ballet technique and plenty of dance games and creativity to build a happy relationship with movement! Dancers must be aged 3 as of September 1, 2023.

Ballet

With a 400+ year history, ballet is rich in style and tradition. Our ballet classes focus on developmentally appropriate technique for each age level, building a solid physical foundation while developing personal style and artistry.

Tap

Tappers make music with their feet! Our tap program builds a dancer’s tap vocabulary, rhythmic ability, and improvisational skills, drawing from the rich history of tap dance in America, and giving dancers a chance to flex their creative muscles.

Modern

What is modern dance? Arising around the beginning of the 20th century, modern dance is a “young” art form that nevertheless has many variations. At The Moving Company, our modern dancers study and incorporate the fundamental elements of dance (body, energy, space and time) into their modern technique, learning from both current and historical modern dance styles, as well as learning improvisational and choreographic skills.

What is Repertory? This class offers dancers an opportunity to learn, rehearse and perform additional choreography as our Moving Company Dance Troupe - dancers will perform throughout the year and at the Year-End Performance. Dancers must also be enrolled in Modern 3, and at least 1 year of dance experience is strongly recommended. Performance opportunity details will be shared as they arise.
